Orton-Gillingham Training

The Garside Institute for Teacher Training (GIFTT) at Carroll School was established to provide comprehensive Orton-Gillingham training and certification through coursework and practicum. Our mission is to educate professionals and to give them the skills to teach students who have language-based learning difficulties.

After watching my daughter become a motivated and capable learner at Carroll, I enrolled in the GIFTT program. Experiencing Carroll as an educator, rather than a parent, helped me to better understand how the many components of Carroll worked together. I saw how the teachers, tutors, multis and administrators worked tirelessly to reach each and every student and the collaboration was unlike anything I had experienced. I’ve found it immensely satisfying to be part of the Carroll community - first as a parent whose child has benefited from Carroll’s expertise and now as a tutor who can help other students gain the skills and confidence to flourish.
